  2. Skill Test (practical / technical) — practical based and technical in nature, conducted to assess job-related skills.

  3. Interview (to evaluate subject knowledge and communication).

  • Skill Test: 250 marks.

  • Interview: 175 marks.
Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of combined marks from these three components.

Is there a Written Exam?

No. The notification specifies shortlisting from GATE, followed by a Skill Test (practical) and Interview. There is no separate conventional written/MCQ exam mentioned in the notification. Shortlisted candidates will be called for Skill Test and Interview which will be held at Delhi (as per notification).

Skill Test / Exam Pattern (What to Expect)

  • Skill Test: Practical/technical tasks relevant to the discipline (CS/IT or ECE). It will evaluate hands-on technical ability and problem-solving as per job profile.

  • Interview: Focus on subject knowledge and communication. Applicants should prepare to discuss academic projects, GATE topics, practical experience, and situational questions.

Note: The notification does not provide detailed question-level patterns for the Skill Test; it states the skill test will be practical in nature and commensurate with the job profile. Prepare broadly on GATE level practical and theoretical topics for your stream.
